brizk design is me, Kai Brach, and this is my portfolio. I'm a freelancing web designer originally from Germany but now based in beautiful Melbourne, Australia. I design and develop pretty and successful websites.
I'm no new kid on the block! For more than 10 years I've been working with the web helping not only my clients but - more importantly - theirs.
The dot.com-boom, the bursting of the bubble, the shiny web 2.0 era - my experience will help you do it right the first time. Previous clients range from large enterprises to small startups and are spread throughout all industries.
The importance of web standards and usability guides me in the design and development process which is reflected consistently throughout my portfolio.
One of my biggest private projects so far: with almost 10.000 members globalzoo has become one of Germany's most popular travel communities. Based on my idea, concept and design, my colleague Daniel and I developed globalzoo in Aug 2007.
I love well designed websites. But there is much more to the pretty face than most people think: a good design needs to convert visitors into users or customers. Good web designers are user interface experts giving the website not only a nice visual touch but allowing for easy navigation, clear call-to-action and provide the best possible user experience.
Producing the website using current CSS and XHTML standards is also one of my strengths. Clean code ensures that the website looks consistent in all major browsers. Of course, search engine optimisation is a vital element of producing good HTML-templates.
You have a great idea for a website but don't know how to put it into practice? I can help with conceptualising and structuring your project, advising you on what technologies fit best and how to approach them. I have many contacts with like-minded people and other freelancers - let's have a chat about your ideas.
Maybe my German genes are responsible for my continuous pursuit of perfection and efficiency when it comes to designing and developing websites.
My clients regularly praise me for being thorough, professional, very approachable and, of course, efficient (I'm German after all!). Expect to receive my responding email sooner rather than later.
I'm absolutely passionate about what I do for a living. I love freelancing and being able to apply my skills to create something of value and quality for my clients. No surprise most of the time my business partners become friends that I like to share new ideas and the occasional geek chat with.
If I'm not busy with project work, I spend too much lots of time following the news around web 2.0, business, technology, web design and development and all that other nerdy stuff. You may rest assured that if there is the next big new thing out there, I've heard of it.
It's simply great working with Kai. Very talented and extremely reliable - just what we need!
Felix Haas, Amiando
Kai is continuously pushing for a better web experience for our clients. We love it!
Bill Fish, TextLinkAds
His creativity, attention to detail and consistent high quality work make him to one of the best web designers out there.

Apart from freelancing, I love travelling. My longest journey ended in Melbourne, Australia, where I'm enjoying life.
Born in Germany in 1981 I started my web design career after Highschool working for an internet company based in my hometown of Saarbrücken in the South-West of Germany. My passion for travelling lead me to Asia and Australia in 2002, where I ended up studying. With a few longer breaks in Germany along the way I'm now enjoying my life in my favourite city: Melbourne.
My freelance career has been fantastic so far. I've had the privilege to work with some well known German startup companies and some very talented people from around the world. In 2007 I even had a chance to work at the Google headquarters in the Silicon Valley and meet Google CEO Sergey Brin.
I consider myself a bit of an entrepreneur too, developing and managing several websites myself, most of them being travel related and in German: globalzoo.de (a large travel blog community), ausmag.de (a small site for German backpackers in Australia), australien-blogger.de (a blog for Germans travelling, working and living in Australia) and gofreelance.org (a simple list of books on freelancing).
I'm always interested in meeting new like-minded people from Melbourne and around the world - especially other freelancers! So follow me on Twitter and get in touch!
If you are after prices and rates for your project, please be as specific as possible, so I can get back to you with the info that actually helps you choose the right man for the job.
When calling me from overseas, please make sure you are aware of the local time in Melbourne.
